Negritude Agonistes, Assimilation against Nationalism in the French-speaking Caribbean and Guyane
The Beggars Pursuit Did you know that Christian Filostrat linked his nonfiction title, Negritude Agonistes, Assimilation against Nationalism in the French-speaking Caribbean and Guyane, with his novel, The Beggars’ Pursuit? The connection has to do with the activities of the negritude proponents, Aimé Césaire, Léon Damas, and Leopold Sédar Senghor, when they were students in Paris, circa 1936. By the way, The Beggars’ Pursuit is a political thriller with a clever plot.
